Staying Mentally Strong-Minded
I had the pleasure of being a panelist as part of a Dreamers & Doers event in NYC this week, talking about the struggles of building businesses. One of my co-panelists shared that when she finally embraced mindset work as an active part of her business, everything changed.
She confessed that a few months ago, she would not have had the confidence to accept the invitation as a panelist if it wasn’t for the work she had done to manage her mind.
Some consider mindset like a four-letter word.
Let me offer you another thought.
You cannot scale your business without scaling your mind first.
This holds true for your life as well. Your life grows in direct proportion to how you approach it with your mind.
The most common struggles high-performers who want to achieve more are:
Compare and despair with others
Cycles of Imposter Syndrome
Shame, blame for not making decisions faster
Saying I don’t know how or don’t know what
Finding evidence for why change won’t work
Feelings of insufficiency with it all
All come from a messy mind.
This is when ‘who’ you want to be as the C.E.O. or leader in your life is unclear and unfocused.
We all hold the title of C.E.O. I am the C.E.O. of Me. Whatever your title, the power of your mind to scale your life and business is at the core.
When your mind is leading from the C.E.O.'s chair, from your vision and your three-year plan, it shows up:
Calmer
Less dramatic
Intentional
Clear
Decisive
That’s when powerful change happens. Not from the crazy never-ending to-do lists driven by thoughts that you are behind, busy, and hustling to grow.
Growth around your self-concept comes first from self-awareness.
How much time do you spend on low-value versus high-value work each week? Make a list and look for the low-value work you are doing and what it is costing you and keeping you from. With clarity comes decisiveness. The low-value work still needs to get done but deciding how, when, and who is easier with the educated mind.
Look at where you are responsible for your results and where you are responsible for results you no longer want. Be accountable and let go. Change comes through awareness.
Uncover the stories you tell yourself that have you fighting for your limitations. This is a big one. The mind lies to you with thoughts of I'm so busy, That just won't work, and I don’t know how to protect you from uncertainty. Recognize the resistance and ask what would the C.E.O. of Me do to bust through.
Understand that actions may be productive but are they producing what you want?
When you decide what perspective you want to bring with you as the C.E.O. in your life, you begin to create a new set of decision filters. Take the personal out of it by writing your C.E.O. job description to develop a new relationship with your role and business, which is separate from you as a person. This isn't about you. It's about being in service of others. I shared the flashlight principle here.
The messy, mismanaged mind is also reflected in your calendar and the list of things to get done. Look at the To-Dos and see if it reflects your future or if it’s simply a checklist of stuff that needs to get done.
The only thing standing in the way of your hard work and ease is making the decision to embrace it. Everything else that comes from working on your mindset becomes easier.

The question I get most frequently on these calls, ‘what results can I achieve?’ Here’s what one client shared:
“The biggest impact working with Christina The 'Thought work she taught has given me a greater sense of awareness, and ultimately, control, over my emotional response to situations at work and at home. I am stepping into a major career transition with joy, grace and pride.”
