Too often we default to our shortcomings.

Thinking how we are falling short, could have done it better. Thinking we should be farther ahead. Wishing we did it differently. Seeing where we went wrong. What we should have done. What’s not working.

Very little time is spent considering where we are already winning.

How about we practice leaning into pride as a daily commitment to ourselves instead of thinking about our shortcomings?

To get to where you are today, you’ve done a lot. When was the last time outside of writing your resume or your bio, have you made a list of all of the things you've done, created, built?

My guess – as I ask this of my clients often – is never or you can't remember.

Thinking about what you’ve achieved up until this point is winning. It's the starting point to the race of a winning life.

When you know what winning feels like, you take more winning action.

Winning feels amazing. Pride. Accomplished. Hopeful. Energetic.

Winning is achieving.

I want to win. Likely, you want those winning feelings too.

Winning is personal. It’s an inside game not an outside validator.

Winning is not an entitlement.

No one is entitled to win. No one deserves it.

Winning comes from intention.

Winning comes from devotion to discipline.

Whether is it winning at work, winning in your business, winning the day, you have to be in it to win it. (Yes, I just used the NY Lottery tag line. But it makes the point.)

Sounds cliche but you have to be in the game to win the game of life.

I led a workshop this week with 30 leaders who considered the concept of showing up by design not by default. By design wins the day every time. We dedicated time to designing how we want to lead.

How much time do you spend thinking about and designing the winning game of life?

Not wishing for it to just happen.

Showing up by design comes from intentional thoughts that only you can create. Your thoughts are what create your feelings, put you into action to produce your winning results.

What will have you showing up as your best today?

Intentionally thinking about designing your day to win will give you focus. And the strategic multiplier: it builds momentum and motivation to achieve the BIG win of life.

Getting frustrated or impatient or annoyed at what’s not working is wasted energy that simply holds you back. Demotivating you which produces momentum in the wrong direction.

Choosing your thoughts isn’t random. It’s intentional.

Intentional creation doesn’t come next week and when you get a free moment. Intentional creation has a place in your weekly calendar. For me, intentional thought creation is a daily practice in my journal.

As the ‘CEO of me’, you get to choose the thoughts that serve you and what you want to create for yourself.

Living an extraordinary life comes from intentionally creating it.

What intentions will you set today?
