The Freedom Plan for High Performing Leaders

FREEDOM relates to the self-determination theory, which identifies autonomy and possibility as a core human need.

Unlike the temporary feeling of happiness, the emotion of freedom has a sustaining quality that persists even through challenges.

The emotion of freedom can create:

  • A sense of breathing more easily or fully

  • An energetic openness to possibilities

  • Relief from perceived constraints

  • A heightened connection to your authentic self

  • An inner permission

YES! This is why so many people yearn for freedom, me included!

BUT, a freedom-filled future doesn't happen without a present-day plan.

One of the tools I use with my clients is creating their Freedom Plan—a vision for the future filled with wants not needs and abundance not scarcity.

The Five Dimensions of Freedom

Freedom isn't one thing, but many components or dimensions which must be defined:

  • Time Freedom

  • Health Freedom

  • Relationship Freedom

  • Purpose Freedom

  • Financial Freedom

These freedoms don't exist in isolation.

They form a powerful ecosystem that generates true wealth.

Your health freedom gives you the energy and longevity to enjoy your time freedom. Your relationship freedom provides the support network that enhances your purpose freedom. Your purpose freedom can create pathways to financial freedom.

This interconnected web of freedom is true wealth.

Focusing on all freedom dimensions creates a compounding effect that exceeds what any single dimension could provide alone.

Redefining Wealth

We all want freedom, and we tend to start with money--but money and wealth are distinct concepts.

This is an all-too-common client conversation:

"I have to work to make money."

"For what?" I ask.

"To live."

"How much money do you need to live within your means?"

"I'm not sure..."

Other conversations begin with: "I have to keep working to pay for my daughter's college." "I have to make enough money to feel safe for retirement."

But they often end with the same answer of uncertainty: "I'm not sure."

Most people have only considered how much money they need to make and save superficially, without connecting it to their broader vision of freedom.

The Power of Focused Intention

A client committed to generating an additional six figures before year-end.

Six months to the day after making that commitment, she achieved it through:

  • Negotiating with her boss for several incentives

  • Doubling down on sales (with a six-month pipeline cycle)

  • Seeking guidance from her mentor

  • Focused energy from belief in possibility

What we focus on expands.

Another client felt trapped in a miserable yet well-paying job. Opening up her laptop felt like being locked in a prison cell. She was miserable but believed she couldn't leave because she needed to fund her daughter's college education.

That's all-or-nothing thinking.

It constantly creeps in until we learn to watch for it. We have to test the facts of your thoughts.

By asking how much money she wanted to save and by when, followed by determining the minimum salary/bonus needed to accomplish that goal, she began to see possibilities for a new Freedom Plan beyond her current situation.

A funny thing happens when we focus and 'manifest': Shortly after, her former boss called with a great job opportunity offering a bigger title and significantly more income.

Freedom Beyond Money

What if money was the outcome of pursuing your deepest wants across the dimensions of freedom?

Creating specific value for each dimension of freedom increases wealth for your Freedom Plan.

What if financial abundance was a natural byproduct of a life well-designed?

Your Freedom Plan is a living document. As you grow and evolve, so too will your definition of freedom.

I must remind myself of my Freedom Plan and frequently edit it for the future I'm working to create.

When I do, I'm reminded of what really matters.
