Questions every entrepreneur must ask during a soft economy

Have you jumped into the pool?

A notable author shared on his podcast that we’ve been in a recession for three years. Last week, I heard we are just now heading into a recession.

Which is it? In it? Coming out of it? Headed into it?

The noise around the economy -- debt ceiling, inflation, unemployment, and other leading and lagging indicators -- creates so much energy around things that are outside our control.

When you jump into these conversations, you jump into the pool.

Into the muck.

Into the river of misery.

As we talk about, read about, listen and respond to the projections, declarations, and drama, things get heavier for our emotional health and the health of our businesses

Why is it important to know if, when, and how we are going into a recession?

You are not the economy, nor do you have control over the economy.

Sales may be off. Earnings may be soft. It’s taking longer to close clients. Those all might be true.

Instead of looking for evidence to support the conversation ….

Instead of jumping into the river of misery…

Why not control what you can control?

If You Don’t Control it, Why Worry About it? You Don’t Control it.

Robert Glazer

I cannot control what happens to the economy, but I can control being in service to myself, my business, and my clients.

You have the choice to keep swimming in the river of misery — right alongside your clients and customers — or you have the choice to swim out of it.

Controlling what’s in your control is the generative choice.

What do your clients need to hear?

What do they need to be thinking inside of their business?

How do they want to feel?

What different results do they want?

How can you help problem solve for this for them?

THEN ASK YOURSELF,

What do I need to be thinking and feeling for that to happen for my clients and customers?

Use these questions also for motivating and leading your teams.

You can only control you.

Your reactions.

Your thoughts.

Your thoughts about your business.

Your thoughts about your clients.

Your thoughts about your results.

Next choice, how can you make this fun?

Get out of the pool.

Be the exception.

Be exceptional.

Be the person who people admire for not listening to the negative.

Be a role model of persistence and perseverance during challenging times.

Then go take massive action.

The ones who take massive action are the winners.

We saw this with Covid.

They went in big.

You can too.

Don’t quit.

I know you are not a quitter because you read this blog.

Be a thinker.

Be a leader.

A massive doer.

A famous Ted Lasso quote: Every choice is a chance.

Yes, and every obstacle is an opportunity.

Make a choice to bust through negative talk.

Bust through any circumstance, be it a recession or a decline in revenue, with generative thinking, problem-solving, and getting into massive action.

This is what we do in coaching. We create new thoughts for you to problem solve to help create more of the results you want. I’m a different kind of coach.

My coaching helps you think thoughts you have never had before so you can take actions you have never taken before or you USED to take when you were in a better place.

If this is what you want, schedule a conversation.
